Bit-level networks provide fast throughput with deterministic performance. Less expensive than byte-networks, they're the best choice
for common components such as photosensors, push buttons, contactors
and simple analog signals - which account for more than 80 percent
of the devices in a typical factory floor control application.
The Seriplex
bus consists of a four-wire cable that provides both communication
and power, and connects directly to over 510 devices. Logic resides
at each device in the form of a small, inexpensive, application specific
integrated circuit (ASIC), which provides communication and address
capabilities, and intelligence to control the components connected
to the control bus. The ASIC may be imbedded into the device by its
manufacturer, or the device may be connected to a Seriplex I/O module
containing the ASIC chip, which is then connected to the bus. Embedded
and non-embedded devices may be used in any combination on a single
bus, giving users unmatched application flexibility.
Dedicated to developing
and supporting technology that best meets your needs, Square D has
introduced some 60 new CPU interface cards and accessories, cable connectors,
and power supplies. More than 40 hardware and software vendors have
designed products that provide interconnectivity to the Seriplex network
cable, including valves, push buttons, relays, sensors and actuators,
as well as PC, PLC and MMI control. Seriplex is a truly open standard
that accommodates virtually any device.
