Schneider Electric’s FactoryCast Web Server is a set of industrial Ethernet functions for Modicon® Premium™ and Quantum™ Ethernet modules, the Modicon® Momentum™ ENT communication adapter, and enhanced ConneXium™ hubs, switches and transceivers. By exposing information at the source, FactoryCast eliminates proprietary barriers and allows business systems to access production data not just from anywhere on the plant floor, but from anywhere in the world.

Designed to provide seamless communication between plant floor and business systems, FactoryCast is an open automation framework based on Internet technologies. Its main capabilities include Modbus® TCP/IP for client-server messaging, I/O scanner for handling I/O devices, embedded web services for diagnostics and configuration, and a full set of Internet protocols.

New! FactoryCast™ V3.1 Software and Firmware incorporates Web services that provide a new and efficient way to communicate directly between control level and upper levels. This is ideal for production management and other business applications.

Publisher-Subscriber protocol
This open standard provides "many to many" deterministic communications, synchronization of distributed applications, global availability of reliable information, automatic discovery and reconfiguration, and optimized traffic load — all without the need for network programming.

Faulty device replacement
This feature permits automatic reconfiguration and network addressing of ANY faulty device, improving productivity while minimizing risks. It is incorporated into the Momentum ENT communication adapter, which sets the groundwork for future implementations in any type of industrial device.

Bandwidth Monitoring
This feature allows the user to clearly determine the communication load that a device is exposed to and then tune it to achieve optimal performance, thus providing the user the critical information needed to understand and predict a device’s network traffic load.

Enhanced network monitoring, web services and diagnostics
Using standard Internet protocol (SNMP - Simple Network Management Protocol) and standard Network Management Software, every FactoryCast device allows access to its enhanced Management Information Base (MIB). This not only means you can monitor the device for network performance, but you can also perform diagnostics on the operation of its services. In addition, a new set of web pages for configuration and diagnostics complements the service offered by the private MIB.
