Providing TCP/IP services in an easy
to use environment,
TCP Open is a function block code that enables a PLC to communicate
easily with any third-party TCP device, including RF tag readers, printers,
bar code readers and even other PLCs.
Designed for
use with the Modicon® Premium™ controller,
the TCP Open software Derived Function Blocks (DFBs) provide TCP/IP
services in an automation application. TCP Open software offers two
key benefits:
- Easy to install - The programmer can construct
a protocol within the application layer, allowing the PLC to communicate
with any third-party device that is equipped with Ethernet TCP/IP.
- Easy to use
- Programmers can employ preset functions without any knowledge
of programming languages such as C ++ or Java; programming is carried
out directly using the DFBs in the desired automation language (ST,
LD, FBD or IL).
Tracking goods through RFID
TCP Open can
also be used to facilitate tracking goods through RFID technology.
The function blocks create an object in an object-oriented programming
environment. The object automatically opens a communications channel
to an RF tag reader, records the data and then closes the channel.
The code block can be installed in a PLC’s programming software
in minutes.
